Young Talent

As Sales Manager at Triumph one of my favourite parts of the job is the development of future “front end” personnel.

We have a proven business case that this strategy is successful… Internships serve as an effective means of identifying and grooming young individuals who have a genuine interest in the packaging industry. By bringing interns into our business, we gain access to fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a wealth of energy. Our Interns, on the other hand, benefit from hands-on experience, exposure to real-world scenarios, and the opportunity to develop vital skills required in the front-end of Triumph and customer service department.

Our aggressive approach not only fosters a sense of loyalty and commitment among employees but also allows Triumph to harness the untapped potential of young minds. 25% Of our Estimating & Internal Sales Team are made up both Interns and permanent employees who came through as Interns.

This strategy supports what we are doing in the market and how we delight our customers. By immersing our youngsters in the intricacies of our business-to-business environment, we instil a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by Triumphs customers. Through direct exposure to client interactions and problem-solving scenarios, these interns gain firsthand experience in identifying cost-saving measures, optimising processes, and developing strategies to drive success for our customers. This holistic perspective empowers them to think beyond individual tasks and comprehend the bigger picture, positioning them as valuable assets in our business environment that demands a multifaceted approach.

The South African Packaging Industry remains under pressure with a reduction of technically inclined client facing resources – we need to grow our own. Internships offer Triumph the chance to evaluate potential candidates for future employment. By observing interns in action, we assess their work ethic, adaptability, and compatibility with our customer focused culture. This firsthand experience allows triumph to make informed decisions when it comes to offering full-time positions to deserving individuals, thus streamlining the recruitment process, and reducing the risks associated with external hires.

The appointed managers & mentors do an incredible job using the energy to continually drive our focus on Speed to market through efficiency. This personalised attention fosters professional growth, builds confidence, and instils a sense of belonging within Triumph.

The significance of growing talent from within Triumph cannot be overstated. This initiative offers a strategic advantage by enabling us to identify and nurture promising individuals who possess the skills and potential required in front-end roles and customer service. By investing time, we have created a talent pipeline, reduced recruitment costs, and have built a culture of continuous learning and development. Ultimately, this approach has paved the way for sustainable growth, innovation, and long-term success in our dynamic business landscape of today and tomorrow.

Our plan is to replace retiring employees with mainly homegrown talent.
